Fabio Kapeller - Percussion

Fabio Kapeller, born 1990 in Vienna he started playing the drum set at the age of 8. A few years into his percussion studies, he switched to classical percussion and timpani and enrolled at the Music and Arts University of Vienna where he graduated with distinction in 2015.

Fabio Kapeller has been an enthusiastic ensemble musician for over 20 years. Apart from performing with orchestras, in percussion ensembles, in bands and in ensembles playing contemporary music, the interpretation of early music is particularly close to his heart.

The path to the music of opia began with Fabio Kapeller's self-study of Western calligraphy back in 2009 and led to a desire to engage more intensively with the art of these past times after listening to a gifted CD with music from the Renaissance.

Fabio Kapeller builds his own mallets, drums and effects instruments, which he also uses playing with opia.
